If the accident is not my fault, can I get a hire car if I don’t have the optional cover?
You may be entitled to a hire car if you’ve had an incident that’s not your fault and you’re covered by our GIO Comprehensive or Fire, Theft and Third Party Property Damage, or Third Party Property Insurance. In this case, we’ll arrange and pay for you to have a hire car that meets your needs while your car is being repaired.
If you are a GIO Platinum customer, you can claim under the GIO Platinum Hire Car feature. This automatically covers you for unlimited hire of a ‘similar make or model’ hire car (up to $100/day) no matter who is at fault.
Conditions apply - Name, address and registration number of the person at fault must be supplied.
Please note: You may not be able to use the hire car for ridesharing purposes.
Please note: A hire car cannot be used by learner drivers.
Please see the PDS for full details.
