The type of cover you have will determine if you’ll be able to make a claim for the damage to your vehicle or not. Read your PDS for conditions and exclusions. Generally, if you have:

GIO Platinum and Comprehensive Car Insurance provide cover for accidental loss or damage to your vehicle in the event of an accident, whether you’re at-fault or not.

If you have Fire, Theft & Third Party Property Damage or Third Party Property Damage cover, you’re not covered for loss or damage to your vehicle if you’re at fault. You may be covered for damage to your vehicle for up to $5,000 if the other driver is entirely at fault, uninsured and you can provide us their name, address and vehicle registration number.

NSW CTP Insurance and ACT MAI Insurance does not cover damage to your vehicle or the other driver’s vehicle. You may be covered for the costs of personal injury claims made against you by other drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, passengers or property owners involved in a motor vehicle accident.

You can find more information on what is and isn’t covered by Car insurance in your PDS.
